Check out my new ride

Hey everyone, meet Pedro. I had to send the Elantra Hotness to Hyundai Heaven. In its stead, I've acquired Pedro de Pacas from a cool hippie chick that is on her way back to the States. The paint job was done by a Korean college student.

It's a manual transmission-my first ever. Tonight I took it for the first test drive and I'm getting better all the time. A couple of stalls and some jerky starts into first. Empowered by my test drive around the neighborhood, I took the van to hockey tonight. It was a for real drive, highway and everything. I didn't do too bad.... :)

It's powered by liquid propane gas, which makes gas cheaper and makes me feel good about helping our mother. Now I just need the beard and the omnipresent smell of patchouli and I'll make the full transition to hippiedom. I can't wait to get it out of town for camping and snowboarding.

Best Seoul Weekend Ever

Hey all. I know it's been a while, and I'm a terrible blogger, but check this out. I've just finished my best weekend in Seoul in the three years that I've been here.

FRIDAY

• Bust out of school and head one hour out of the city. Quickly set up tents and enjoy a few hours of rock climbing.
• Enjoy the company of 16 teachers and spend the night camping on the beach of a river.

SATURDAY

• Rain foils our day of climbing so we come back to the city and have a great lunch at Chili's (nothing beats a $14 burger).
• Watch a movie.
• Go to Hongdae and check out 2 live reggae bands and 1 live ska band.

SUNDAY

• Quiet lunch at home.
• Off to watch a skateboarding/BMX demo while waiting for...
• A B-boy breakdance battle interspersed with Hip-hop sets.

Incredible weekend. It finally feels like I'm living in a major world city that has a lot to offer. Other things I've done lately have reminded me of that too. I went to an awesome Picasso exhibit and yet another Korean National Team soccer game. It's been a really sweet year, a lot of good things seem to be happening.
